Role Summary

The Virtual Design Construction Manager will provide routine and non-routine Building Information Modeling (BIM) administration and coordination to assigned projects. This position will be responsible for providing more complex models and documents, providing BIM technical support to internal teams and leading facilitation of 3D coordination. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

VDC MANAGER FAMILY - CORE

•    Manages VDC processes and activities to support assigned projects.
•    Provides models and documents necessary to complete scope as determined with VDC/BIM leadership and project teams.
•    Creates and maintains clear and effective project documentation; meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and constraint logs.
•    Reads and interprets shop drawings, submittals, product data and incorporates all necessary items into the BIM process.
•    Supports operations with the RFI process for BIM related items.
•    Manages and maintains a productive and efficient BIM process.
•     Supports and collaborates with VDC Directors and Self-Perform VDC to ensure general VDC services, deliverables, and schedules are maintained to meet project objectives.
•    Maintains working relationships with owners, subcontractors and project teams.
•    Reads and interprets owner requirements, BIM execution plans, front end scopes of work, and makes sure minimum project requirements are met.
•    Develops composite model by assembling 3D content provided by designers and trade contractors; creates models for any content not provided.
•    Responsible for leading the VDC processes and standards.
•    Manages change process and incorporates into all project models. Tracks and communicates schedule and budget impacts to operations teams in a timely manner.
•    Provides BIM technical support to internal project teams.
•    Participates in the development of project-specific BIM execution plans and budgets.
•    Implements best practices and processes.
•    Leads design and project teams through VDC process on multiple large projects.
•    Partners with cross functional teams by providing model-based support and solutions.
•    Implements and leads project specific VDC strategy to meet overall objectives and goals.
•    Implements BIM/field layout processes on projects. (Self Perform VDC Focused)
•    Identifies BIM/self-perform scopes of work and supports BIM/VDC self-perform processes. (Self Perform VDC Focused)
•    May supervise and lead others.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•    Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
•    Communication skills, verbal and written – Advanced.
•    Proficiency in MS Office – Advanced.
•    Ability to conduct effective presentations – Intermediate.
•    Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
•    Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.
•    Ability to quickly and effectively solve complex problems.
•    Ability to interpret BIM project requirements and apply to VDC processes.
•    Ability to lead project teams through the VDC processes.
•    Ability to set up and establish project specific VDC technology to support project delivery strategy – Advanced.
•    Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
•    Knowledge of BIM technology solutions including:

      • Autodesk BIM 360 Glue – Advanced.
      • Autodesk Construction Cloud – Advanced.
      • Autodesk Design Collaboration – Advanced.
      • Autodesk Revit (Architecture, Structure, MEP) – Advanced.
      • Autodesk AutoCAD – Advanced.
      • Autodesk Navisworks Manage (including JE Dunn clash workflow and program) – Advanced.
      • Trimble’s Sketch-Up – Advanced.
      • Bluebeam – Intermediate.
      • JE Dunn Enterprise Mobile Solution – Intermediate.
      • Laser scanning process – Intermediate.
      • Trimble Tekla Structures – Intermediate (Self Perform VDC Focus, Advanced).
      • Trimble Field Layout Solutions – Intermediate (Self Perform VDC Focus, Advanced).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction science or related field (Required).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years construction or related experience (Required).
  • 5+ years BIM-related experience (Required).

Working Environment

  • Valid and unrestricted drivers license required
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • May require periods of travel
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs
  • Assignment location may include project sites and/or in the office
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
  • Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
  • Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Climbing, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling

Benefits Information

Base compensation for the VDC Manager: Low-Voltage role in Colorado is between $105,000 and $130,000 depending on experience, and may be more than this range for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible to receive a target bonus based on both individual and company performance.
