Role Summary

The Learning & Development Specialist will administer, organize, and conduct training and educational programs.  All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

  • Autonomy & Decision-Making:  Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST FAMILY – CORE

  • Administer frontline training for new and existing employees.
  • Build close relationships with principal business and functional stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage learning solution delivery.
  • Configuration and preparation of classroom environment.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with other business and regional resources.
  • Coordinate instructional design and other development and delivery resources as necessary.
  • Coordinates training needs analysis.
  • Maintains records of training activities and employee progress and monitors effectiveness of programs.
  • Delivery of training materials, class exercises and discussion.
  • Support teams (local and regional) on assessing regional and individual training needs.
  • Utilize current training materials and customize to specific assigned customer.
  • Organizes and develops or obtains training procedure manuals, guides and course materials.
  • Evaluates training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written (Intermediate).
  • Knowledge of adult learning strategies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and build consensus in a classroom and virtual setting.
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations (Intermediate).
  • Ability to coach.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to dynamic situations.
  • Listening skills (Intermediate).
  • Ability to read a situation and make sound assessments and recommendations.
  • Ability to speak confidently in small or large groups.
  • Ability to multitask (teach, read chats, take notes etc.) and be comfortable while working in a fast-paced, ever-changing, high energy environment.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree  in human resources, instructional design or related field (Required).
  • Associate certificate in instructional design certificate/degree (preferred).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in learning and development (Preferred).
  • 2+ years’ experience in building construction (Preferred).
  • Adult learning theory.
  • 2+ years’ experience in meeting or group facilitation (Preferred).
  • Spanish speaking as a 2nd language (Preferred).
  • AEC experience (Preferred).
