Key Role Responsibilities - Core

ARCHITECTURE FAMILY – CORE

  • Participates in the creation of design solutions for a variety of project types through feasibility studies, and conceptual and schematic design and development activities throughout all phases of design and construction.
  • Develops design concepts and documents during concept schematic and design development phases.
  • Direct involvement in the development and production of the construction documents and specifications.
  • Researches, specifies, and details materials, finishes, products and fixtures utilizing manufacturer product data.
  • Develops, modifies, and reviews design concepts, production drawings and construction documents according to established standards and technical expertise.
  • Participates in design and operational research, building & systems programming, site and building analysis and report documentation.
  • Participates in preparing design presentations to clients, communities, and other pertinent stakeholders, including public agencies.
  • Partners with project teams throughout the design and construction process.
  • Coordinates directly with clients in the day-to-day project management of the design development and provides construction administration services.
  • Observes construction activities and works with contractors to ensure successful execution of design intent.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

SENIOR ARCHITECT

In addition, this position will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for executing complex designs and managing a large variety of projects acting as project design lead.
  • Advises project team of all design related quality, schedule and budget variances in a timely manner.
  • Manages subordinate or other discipline resources to quality, schedule and budget requirements.
  • Prepares contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation.
  • Mentors Architects in less senior positions.
  • Works with Client Solutions and Operations on the development and acquisition of architectural projects with new and prospective clients.
  • Assists in marketing JE Dunn’s architectural services, preparing and conducting proposal presentations, and managing communication between clients, consultants and project teams.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in one or more market sectors.
  • Coordinates activities across regional teams and offices.
  • Partners with leadership team to ensure company standards for building requirements and assurance of quality design and construction work are upheld.
  • On larger projects, functions as a key member of a collaborative design team; on smaller projects may independently complete all aspects of a project.
  • Self-generates construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Coordinates other engineering discipline drawings and construction requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
  • Communication skills, verbal and written – Intermediate
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations – Intermediate
  • Proficiency in MS Office – Intermediate
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Thorough knowledge of project processes and how each supports the successful completion of a project
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, 3DS Max, and all Adobe programs and/or Google SketchUp
  • Experience with U.S. building design codes and material specific standards
  • Ability to think in a highly structured manner along all design disciplines while also having creativity to develop specialized solutions by anticipating potential challenges
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field (Required)
  • Degree from a NAAB accredited architecture program (Preferred)
Experience
  • 8+ years architectural experience (Preferred)
  • Experience in the Automotive, Aerospace, Metals, Plastics, Consumer Goods, Paper, Food & Beverage, Cold Storage and Standard Warehouse market sector (Preferred)
  • Cross-functional knowledge of the key engineering disciplines (Architectural, Civil, Structural, MEP) and relevant trades
  • General construction experience (Preferred)
  • Previous experience in proposal development and client management with proven history in leading project pursuits and winning proposals (Preferred)
Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • May require extensive periods of travel
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
  • Assignment location may include project sites and/or in the office
  • Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
  • Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Climbing, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling
