Role Summary

The Senior Communications Specialist will complete complex communications and public relations activities. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing public relations projects, managing fiscal records and developing and aligning national corporate communications. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.   

  • Autonomy & Decision-Making: Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST FAMILY - CORE

  • Develops, aligns and produces national corporate communications to support the company vision and brand identity. 
  • Writes press releases for various local and national projects and office locations.
  • Implements public relations programs highlighting key projects, business initiatives and company news.
  • Executes digital strategy, including company website upgrades and oversight, email campaigns, intranet, social media, etc.
  • Identifies, writes and submits national award programs.
  • Maintains the editorial calendar for target trade publications and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Authors and oversees thought leadership development and placements.
  • Assembles information and distributes scheduled internal communication such as emails and newsletters.
  • Works with internal groups to produce video content including script writing, project management and scope/budget control.
  • Writes, edits and publishes website and blog content.  
  • Publishes internal new hire announcements and submits executive promotions and hires for external publication.
  • Maintains publication archives, a library of relevant publications, a database of all JE Dunn press and manages press tracking.
  • Exercises discretion and integrity with highly confidential and sensitive information.

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Assists with crisis communications.
  • Collaborates with internal groups to develop communications strategies for key initiatives.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the highest standards of customer satisfaction by displaying courtesy and sensitivity and responding promptly to customer needs.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations promptly and efficiently.
  • Meets client commitments; recognizes and acts upon service opportunities.
  • Solicits and applies feedback to improve quality and service.
  • Creates compelling visual content by scripting and crafting video messaging that engages and influences our target audience.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years marketing communications or public relations experience (Preferred)
  • 0-2 years people management or team leadership experience (Preferred)
  • 0-2 years financial management or project budgeting experience (Preferred)
  • AEC experience (Preferred)

Working Environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Typically travel is not required
  • Normal office environment
