Sr. Learning & Development Specialist - Skilled Trades

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT FAMILY – CORE

  • Build close relationships with principal business and functional stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage learning solution delivery.
  • Configuration and preparation of classroom environment.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with other business and regional resources.
  • Coordinate instructional design and other development and delivery resources as necessary.
  • Coordinates training need analysis.
  • Maintains records of training activities and employee progress and monitors effectiveness of programs.
  • Delivery of training materials, class exercises and discussion
  • Support teams (local and regional) on assessing regional and individual training needs
  • Utilize current training materials and customize to specific assigned customer.
  • Organizes and develops or obtains training procedure manuals, guides and course materials.
  • Evaluates training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

SENIOR LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Training, teaching and coaching a larger variety and/or more complex courses
  • Assist in conduct learning needs analysis with supervisors and employees to determine performance gaps and missed opportunities for a defined role.
  • Designs, develops and delivers course content using effective adult learning strategies.
  • Assist in making recommendations for class participants, timing and courses for various functions in the business for assigned classes
  • Be a trusted advisor to senior leadership for learning opportunities and learning needs of employees.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
  • Communication skills, verbal and written (Advanced)
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Organizational skills
  • Listening skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning strategy (Intermediate)
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and build consensus in a classroom and virtual setting
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations (Intermediate)
  • Ability to coach others
  • Ability to adapt and respond to dynamic situations
  • Ability to read a situation and make sound assessments and recommendations
  • Ability to utilize a heightened sense of organizational awareness  
  • Ability to speak confidently in small and large groups
  • Ability to multitask (teach, read chats, take notes etc.) and be comfortable while working in a fast-paced, ever-changing, high energy environment
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree  in human resources, instructional design or related field (Required)
  • Associate certificate in instructional design certificate/degree (preferred)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered
Experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in learning and development (Preferred)
  • 2+ years’ experience in building construction involving skilled trades (Preferred)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish (highly preferred)
  • Adult learning theory
  • 2+ years’ experience in meeting or group facilitation (Preferred)
