Role Summary

The Logistics Operations Manager will lead a team in providing routine and non-routine Logistics support to construction operations.  This position will be responsible customer interaction relating to incoming equipment and material orders, fleet information and billings.  In addition, Logistics Operations Managers will manage a local Logistics branch and operate independently on a day to day basis.  All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

LOGISTICS OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT FAMILY - CORE

  • Performs routine duties and transactions in purchasing, fleet/inventory counter operations, billing, and distribution.
  • Maintains current knowledge base of instrumentation, equipment, supplies used and manufacturers’ recommendations for safe and appropriate maintenance and use.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the quantity and location of all supplies and the status of equipment. Knowledgeable in the basic operation of all equipment required for the area.
  • Oversees routine duties and transactions in purchasing, fleet/inventory counter operations, billing, and distribution in support of our equipment rental and construction supply business to include receiving and placing orders, data entry, warehouse organization, and deliveries, customer follow-up.
  • Advanced understanding (make this more than previous position) of the equipment rental business as it applies to company and utilizes key operational reports for day to day decision making and recommendations.
  • Frequently leads training topics during biweekly Logistics huddles and other appropriate venues.  Leads discussion in larger internal groups (10+).
  • Actively participates in the Logistics continuous improvement plan by identifying inefficiencies in the current process and suggesting solutions and leading potential improvements. (wordsmith)
  • Subject Matter Expert and national resource in multiple lines of equipment/material for the Logistics Division.
  • Responsible for financial performance of a local logistics facility through pursuing new revenue opportunities and fiscal management of operational and G&A expenses relating to their assigned Logistics operation.

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
  • Communication skills, verbal and written
  • Proficiency in MS Office – Advanced
  • Ability to learn operating and accounting systems for data entry
  • Ability to identify common construction materials and equipment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Thorough knowledge of logistics operations including warehouse organization, storage of goods, traffic flow and the fulfillment process from start to finish
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered.

 

Experience

  • 10+ years warehouse or construction materials experience (Preferred)
  • 5+ years people management experience (Preferred)
  • 5+ years with financial budgeting and management experience (Preferred)
