Role Summary

The Senior Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Manager will work closely with senior leadership to build effective diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) programs for assigned region and/or work programs. This position will be responsible for ensuring Workforce, Workplace and Marketplace initiatives are in alignment with overall company DE&I strategy. Responsible for facilitating inclusive business practices for women and minorities in support of construction projects, implementing initiatives that promote a diverse and inclusive culture and participate in activities to attract diverse talent to JE Dunn. In addition, this position will contribute to the development of DE&I strategy development for the company, as demonstrated by strategic competency in assessing organizational needs and implementing plans.  All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core


  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with regional leadership to align activities with the priorities for the region.
  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with diverse businesses and community organizations in order to source for projects and opportunities.
  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis using internal tools and reports.
  • Develops and implements best practices for diversity within the region and/or work program, including workplace inclusion initiatives that support our key strategic initiatives.
  • Identifies and tracks diverse contractors, vendors, and suppliers that have the capacity to support company goals and educates them on the tools and requirements necessary to qualify them for work with JE Dunn.
  • Educates and partners with project management teams to produce required reports and deliverables to achieve targeted project goals.
  • Partners with Marketing/Business Development to respond to RFP requests and participates on project interview teams as needed.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition team and targeted colleges and universities to recruit diverse individuals.
  • Facilitates initiatives, aligned with corporate HR, to ensure federal, state and local regulatory compliance at each of the offices within the region and/or work program.
  • Oversees partnerships and programs with diverse businesses, to include mentorship programs and contractor development programs.
  • Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Promotes awareness and understanding of DE&I for all levels, instilling DE&I awareness and practices into workplace culture.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of training programs that foster diversity, inclusion, belonging and retention initiatives.
  • Maintains database of diverse businesses and organizations for community outreach purposes.
  • Partners with key stakeholders and assigned leadership teams on creation of affirmative action plans and progress.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core


In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Constantly mindful of DE&I policies and practices; assesses and analyzes the extent to which they support or hinder the company’s diversity and inclusion goals. Provides recommendations to DE&I leadership and other key stakeholders for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the identification, creation, project management, and implementation of DE&I training content.
  • Ownership of special projects that foster DE&I initiatives across assigned area, in support and alignment with JE Dunn and DE&I strategy.
  • Provides consultation to leadership on DE&I best practices.
  • Partners with assigned area’s leadership, gaining buy-in on the creation of annual plans including Workforce, Workplace, and Marketplace strategies.
  • Works cross functionally within Human Resources to align DE&I initiatives with business objectives to develop and implement DE&I principles into recruiting, retention, and engagement efforts.
  • Creates DE&I budget for assigned region and/or work program and ensures accountability and ongoing alignment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management or related field (Required)
  • Training in contract compliance (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered


  • 10+ years experience in diversity and inclusion (Preferred)
  • Construction/HUB plan experience (Preferred)

Working Environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • May require periods of overnight travel
  • Ability to attend events in the evenings as needed
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs
