Role Summary

The HR Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing human resource initiatives and projects within an organization. This role requires a combination of HR expertise and project management skills to ensure the successful implementation of HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with business goals. A successful candidate in this role is someone who is not only technically proficient but also a persuasive communicator and strategic thinker capable of driving transformational change and engaging stakeholders at all levels.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop, manage, and implement HR projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, resources, and budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones while tracking progress.
  • Identify risks and proactively manage issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Create detailed project and implementation plans focused on engagement and buy-in, integrating cross-functional teams and aligning with overall strategic objectives to ensure successful execution across diverse environments.

HR Strategy & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with HR leadership to align projects with business and workforce strategies.
  • Analyze current HR processes and suggest improvements for efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives related to HR systems, such as HRIS, payroll, or talent management software.
  • Lead and drive change management initiatives across the organization, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption during transformations.

 

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Act as a liaison between HR, business leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals align with business needs.
  • Craft compelling narratives through dynamic visualizations—including charts, graphs, and PowerPoint presentations—that effectively communicate complex data and insights, helping to secure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that articulate project goals, benefits, and progress to all levels of the organization.
  • Communicate project updates, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and other relevant teams.
  • Facilitate training, workshops, or change management initiatives to support project implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and engagement across large, national, and matrixed footprints.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong project management skills (PMP certification is a plus).
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, policies, and labor laws.
  • Proficiency in HR technology, such as HRIS, ATS, payroll systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and drive process improvements.
  • Change management expertise and experience in leading transformation initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in HR project management, HR operations, or a related HR role. (Required)
  • 3+ years experience in managing multiple HR projects, at varying levels of complexity, implementing HRIS systems, or leading organizational change is a plus. (Required)
  • Project Management Tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Jira, Microsoft Project). (Preferred)
  • HR Systems (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM). (Preferred)
  • Data & Reporting (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau). (Preferred)
