Role Summary
The Paralegal will provide legal support to the Legal Department supporting JE Dunn’s Midwest Region and JE Dunn Capital Partners. This position will increase efficiency of the departments and provide maximum protection for the Company. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.
- Autonomy & Decision-Making: Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
PARALEGAL
Midwest Region support:
- Assist department attorney’s with managing and monitoring claims and litigation.
- Review document requests (e.g., discovery requests, third-party subpoenas, records requests), gather and organize responsive documents, and prepare response to requests.
- Prepare litigation and claims history reports for responding to Requests for Proposals.
- Coordinate and assist attorneys and Risk Management department with tracking claims and litigation in Origami system.
- Draft litigation holds and releases and track litigation hold responses.
- Assist with responding to levies.
- File litigation-related documents, including filing of settlement agreements following resolution of claims
Corporate and Real Estate support:
- Assist with the review, drafting, markup, execution and internal implementation of the Company’s office, warehouse and ground leases.
- Assist with the review, markup and execution of confidentiality agreements.
- Maintenance of company’s owned property records.
- Assistance with various types of commercial transactions ranging including borrowing, lending, stock/asset acquisition/divestiture, commercial real estate development transaction, etc.
- Assist with review, execution and implementation of private investment transactions
- Assistance with company’s entity management; including entity formation, annual reporting, record keeping, ownership transfers, document preparation (e.g., operating agreement, minutes, resolutions, etc.), entity dissolutions, etc.
- Litigation management for claims arising from the Company’s investment activities

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (Preferred)
- In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
- 2+ years paralegal experience (Required)
- Construction industry experience (Preferred)
- Corporate secretary support (Preferred)
- Transactional knowledge in real estate (Preferred)
