Key Role Responsibilities - Core

RISK MANAGEMENT FAMILY – CORE

  • Assists insurance activation team, including traditional coverage, CIP, and BR.
  • Serves as internal coverage analyst and maintains detailed policy understanding.
  • Assists with response to reservation of rights and coverage denial letters.
  • Prepares annual insurance renewal applications and manages renewal paperwork process.
  • Assists with triennial insurance program procurement.
  • Assists with project-specific insurance placements.
  • Participates in carrier and TPA meetings.
  • Reviews owner-provided insurance programs.
  • Assists Operations in sales to owners of risk products.
  • Drafts responses for Operations and Marketing to insurance and risk aspects of project RFPs or prequalification.
  • Participates in regular claim reviews (insurance and sub default), internally and/or externally, and coordinates claims oversight with Legal department including processing, paying, and resolving complex and/or high-exposure insurance claims.
  • Attends mediations and/or settlement conferences for insured claims.
  • Manages joint venture and named insured status for company entities and partnerships.
  • Prepares and publishes relevant key performance indicators for Risk Management.
  • Develops necessary company policies and best practices.
  • Assists on governance, risk and compliance processes for the company.
  • Consults with IT regarding information security best practices.
  • Assists with responses to internal and external auditors.
  • Assists with Safety/IPS overall management of company Work Comp and Safety initiatives.
  • Assists in management of insurance collateral process.
  • Reviews reserve setting for claims.
  • Assists finance manager in department budget analysis.
  • Manages company Intellectual Property assets with IT, Marketing and Legal.
  • Assists Legal, Records and IT on implementation of company records processes.
  • Delivers Risk and other training for Operations and administrative groups.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel (Advanced).
  • Ability to present independent training and presentations for Risk Management.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills (Advanced).
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.
  • Adapts to change and stress in the work environment and manages competing demands while maintaining high performance levels.
  • Supports change initiatives.  Identifies the best approach for implementing strategic processes.
  • Participates in educational activities related to knowledge and professional issues.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a team, internally and externally.

Education

  • Doctorate-level degree in law, and/or advanced degree in business, accounting or related field (Required).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered – specifically legal, business, or insurance.

Experience

  • 5+ years construction insurance experience (Preferred).

Working Environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • May require periods of overnight travel
  • Normal office environment
  • Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
  • Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder
