Role Summary
The Senior Payroll Systems Analyst will provide expertise and support for a variety of payroll systems and processes incorporating best practices with company specific procedures. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with members of Payroll, HRIS, and Technology to implement new systems and oversee payroll and HR technology strategy. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
- Assist in the execution of the long-term Payroll Strategy through supporting key payroll systems functionality including interfacing with time tracking and general ledger systems
- Assists with managing relationships with service providers and ensures the development and proper training and documentation for system use and maintenance
- Assists in establishing data tables, structures, files, interface requirements and data integrity protocols for ongoing administration of payroll processes, partners with other functional areas of the business to ensure seamless sharing of data
- Implements and provides training for reporting capabilities based on payroll-related tables and data structures
- Supports Data Audits across the payroll function to ensure accuracy and compliance with a variety of regulatory requirements
- Assists with supporting, modifying and executing company procedures that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect
- Participates in cross-functional process improvement and implementation initiatives related to Payroll systems and assist with development and deployment of systems
- Develops an in-depth understanding of the supporting business processes that align with payroll systems and solutions
- Documents payroll policies and procedures, identifying areas for process improvements
- Partner with end-users to identify issues and implement corrections within the payroll system
- Understands the relationship between various systems and data sources within the organization, identifies stakeholders and data owners for collaboration as needed
- Manage payroll system documentation, including end-user guides, training materials, and release notes for a variety of systems
- Supports upgrades, enhancements, testing, validation and overall system performance across multiple systems, including commercial and in-house developed systems
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
In addition, this position will be responsible for
- Defines the capabilities, requirements and customer vision for new Payroll systems. Ensures alignment with team and organizational technology stacks
- Partner with other team members to identify and document business requirements for the technical teams. Create functional specifications, process flows, data dictionaries and other documentation to ensure requirements are captured accurately and concisely.
- Designs and develops reporting capabilities of multiple systems based on payroll-related tables and data structures
- Develop plans for testing payroll systems and processes: identify and link business requirements to test scenarios, document test cases, execute testing processes to ensure applications are working as expected
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to design, develop, test and implement system integrations. Implement monitoring capabilities to ensure integration errors are quickly identified and resolved
- Represents payroll in cross-functional project teams including HRIS, IT and external vendor implementation specialists
- Oversees the specification, development or implementation of new or redesigned systems, reports and policies within the payroll department
- Acts as primary point of contact for audits, integration errors and systems requests related to payroll operations
- Identifies opportunities for improved functionality, developing or implementing improvements in a timely manner

- Proficiency in payroll software – Advanced
- Knowledge of multi-state and provincial full cycle payroll processing, including time entry to general ledger entry
- Knowledge of basic construction terminology and individual construction building trades or crafts
- Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail and execution
- Knowledge of general payroll including garnishments, bonus payments, special payments and payroll taxes
- General knowledge of database structures and related concepts
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Information Technology or related field (Preferred)
- In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience with Payroll or HRIS systems (Required)
- Experience designing, building and implementing payroll solutions through one or more of the following technology systems: Workday, UKG/Kronos, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle, Dayforce or similar (Required)
