Role Summary

The Vehicle Program Manager will serve as the Project Manager for the company vehicle fleet as well as the relationship manager with the operational users of the overall fleet program.  This position will collaborate with a team of other professionals to deliver consistent and innovative solutions that can scale for our growing company. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

VEHICLE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT FAMILY – CORE

  • Develops and implements the strategy for fleet management and DOT compliance to ensure the organization has the right capabilities to deliver business results now and in the future. 
  • Plays a critical role as a performance partner for their assigned stakeholders, identifying organizational needs and proposing impactful solutions.
  • Partners across the organization and with business leaders on the design, delivery, and ongoing optimization of fleet management operations, compliance and safety. 
  • Maintains a keen understanding of relevant trends and best practices to provide best-in-class fleet management.
  • Participates in the design and delivery of high-impact, scalable, and technology-enabled solutions that meet the diverse needs of our internal and/or external clients.
  • Participates in the development and communication of clear, robust metrics, dashboards, and insights that can be leveraged across the organization to support assigned strategic objectives.
  • Collaborates with internal support teams including legal, safety, and compliance on a variety of topics including insurance claims, DOT compliance, policy violations and other relevant aspects of the program. 
  • Collaborates with internal and external parties to ensure the efficient management of compliance data for OSHA, DOT, FMCSA and local/state agencies. 
  • Participates in the management and maintenance of supporting systems.
  • Manages relationships with third-party firms delivering a variety of services, including vehicle orders/deliveries, vehicle assignments and rotations, licensing, fuel card management and other relevant programs.
  • Responsible for all internal and external compliance relative to the functions and program they manage. 
  • Works across business units and other stakeholders to ensure program implementation and compliance for all internal and external requirements.
  • Manages the assets, software and processes within their program necessary to deliver desired results.
  • May develop an annual business plan and budget relevant to their program in order to meet the short-term and long-term goals of JE Dunn.

Fiscal Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Profit / Loss Statement for the fleet program including revenue reimbursement, repair and maintenance, insurance, licensing, overhead and other related expenses.
  • Assumes responsibility for day-to-day financial management of assigned scope of responsibility by understanding the budget process, accurately forecasting and limiting month-to-month fluctuations.
  • Maintains fiscal records and follows procedures to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Understands business plan and manages financial goals.
  • Makes operational decisions in light of broader financial goals and constraints.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Assesses and manages quality of work produced by the team.
  • Creates, monitors and manages scheduling; directs assignments and goal setting for optimal productivity and resource management. 
  • Participates in a range of talent management activities, which may include responsibilities such as evaluating and managing performance, providing formal and informal feedback, recruiting and staffing, employee learning and development, addressing employee relations risks and issues, etc. 
  • Provides feedback and coaching to support individual employee performance, learning and career development. 
  • Removes obstacles and solves problems and addresses escalated issues from team members to optimize team performance and productivity. 
  • Serves as a change agent by supporting corporate and work program change initiatives.  Models and communicates positive approaches to adapting to change.

  • Proficient at working with business leaders in a highly matrixed, complex business and ability to develop collaborative solutions to business and organizational needs
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience leading large complex projects across geographically dispersed teams
  • Highly organized and able to manage time and resources to accomplish priorities
  • Ability to multi-task, effectively facilitating multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to tailor communication to different individuals and audiences from senior executives to external speakers and partners to program participant
  • Ability to organize and track key information in a variety of formats
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally

Education

  •  
  • Bachelor’s degree (Required)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered

Experience

  •  
  • 5+ years’ relevant experience in fleet management and DOT compliance(Required)

Working Environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • May require periods of overnight travel
  • Normal office environment
