Role Summary

The Workforce Development Specialist supports workforce development related to projects and project pursuits across the company. This position implements established programs and best practices to unique projects and situations, acting as a partner to project teams, stakeholders and external partners while building knowledge and skills in various workforce development activities. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

  • Autonomy & Decision-Making: Makes decisions on non-routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor, and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST FAMILY – CORE

  • Participates in partnership conversations with operational leaders and other stakeholders to understand workforce development needs across the company
  • Assists with developing responses and solutions to workforce development needs including supporting project pursuits, community impact and development future talent
  • Implements best practices for workforce development across internal and external stakeholders
  • Implements individualized project pursuit and project execution workforce development plans by utilizing and customizing company-developed workforce development playbook
  • Creates and maintains Workforce Development reporting records, providing records to project teams as needed
  • Acts as subject matter expert on Workforce Development, supporting project teams in assigned areas of responsibility using a consultative approach
  • Assists with communicating workforce development program, priorities and strategies to pursuit teams to inform pursuit of new business
  • Remains updated and aware of relevant regulations and certifications within the construction industry
  • Supports the alignment of workforce development programs with industry standards and compliance requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
  • Ability to provide on-call support during daytime hours, including mornings, afternoons & weekends, to ensure seamless operations and timely assistance when needed
  • Communication skills, verbal and written
  • Demonstrated knowledge of needs assessment, program design, implementation, metrics and reporting and compliance
  • Knowledge of training and development best practices
  • Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with various stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equality and inclusion principles in workforce development
  • Knowledge of economic and social issues, trends, impacts to the community, trades and professional network organizations
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, business administration or related field (Required)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

 

  • 2+ years’ experience in related workforce development experience (Required)
  • 0-2+ years’ experience in construction and/or human resources (Preferred)
  • 0–2+ years of professional experience with Google Suite tools (Sheets, Asana, Looker Studio) (Preferred)

Working Environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • May require periods of travel
  • Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
  • Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed – might be on call in the evenings and weekends
  • Normal office environment or jobsite office
